In appreciation and acknowledgement of the fact that he would not be 50years old twice in a lifetime, the billionaire chairman of Osmoserve Global, Scott Tommey, who turned 50 yesterday, Thursday November 12th, just gifted himself a worthy birthday present; a shimmering Bombardier Global Express jet . Tommey’s aircraft, which was designed to fly long distances at a high speed between any two points on the globe and with only one refuelling stop needed, has a maximum operating altitude of 51, 000ft.

Sources close to Tommey say the aircraft comes with a luxurious interior which has four true living spaces, a full-size kitchen and a dedicated crew suite. Peace and privacy are also within reach aboard the aircraft, which delivers the ultimate in luxurious comfort and an unprecedented array of furnishing options including the industry’s only true stand-up shower in the available En Suite.

A statement on Bombardier’s website states, “No other business jet provides the speed and range of the Global 8000 aircraft. With an industry-leading range of 7,900 nm, travellers are free to chart their course with more routes and destination options than any other business jet ever conceived.”

There are so many reasons for Tommey to celebrate though. He is hale and hearty; in a year when supposedly healthier, wealthier, more influential, and younger people are dropping dead at the speed of light. While there would not be any elaborate party to celebrate the landmark birthday, the aircraft is, no doubt, a befitting birthday present for the young man from Afia Nsit, Eket Local Government, Akwa Ibom State, who has built a world-class multi-billion business enterprise in Osmoserve, an indigenous company that provides marine and engineering services to the oil and gas industry.

It does seem to be the season of private jet acquisitions as the billionaire industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, also just added a Bombardier Global7500 to his Fleet. For Dangote, regarded as Africa’s wealthiest man, flying is like good music; soothing and therapeutic. It elevates the spirit and offers exhilarating freedom from the drudgery of running a thriving conglomerate and meeting up with social and family demands.

To make life easier and global junkets more pleasurable, Dangote has added an aircraft with a wing that’s a technological marvel and engineered for maximum control and agility at all speeds while delivering the smoothest ride. The Master Suite of the new aircraft, the manufacturers state, offers the soothing tranquillity of home and luxurious comfort in a personal space that features an unprecedented array of optional furnishings, including a permanent bed and provides more natural light than any other cabin in business aviation, as well as providing every passenger with a window seat.

“No other business jet offers the Global 7500 aircraft’s ultimate combination of range, speed, field performance and smooth ride,” states Bombardier. Dangote’s new jet is valued at about $75m.
