The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a final reminder to media organisations seeking accreditation to cover the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election and six bye-elections scheduled for June 20, 2026.

In a statement on Saturday, the commission said accreditation would close at midnight on Sunday, June 7, stressing that no extension would be granted after the deadline.

INEC urged media organisations that had already begun the accreditation process but were yet to complete their applications to do so before the closing date.

“Media organisations that have already initiated their applications but are yet to complete the process are strongly advised to do so before the deadline,” the commission said, adding “Incomplete applications will not be considered, and no exceptions will be made for late submissions.”

The electoral body described the deadline as the final opportunity for interested media organisations to secure accreditation for the elections.

“This is the final opportunity to secure accreditation. Act now,” INEC added.

The June 20 polls include the Ekiti State governorship election and bye-elections in six constituencies across the country.

The affected constituencies are Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State, Zuru State Constituency in Kebbi State, Ondo South Senatorial District in Ondo State, Rivers South East Senatorial District in Rivers State, Nasarawa North Senatorial District in Nasarawa State, and Enugu North Senatorial District in Enugu State.

INEC said only duly accredited media organisations would be permitted to cover the elections, reiterating the need for applicants to complete the process before the deadline expires.
