Mustapha Adekunle, the chieftain of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers better known as Seego has reacted to reports of arrest by the Police.

A widely published statement yesterday, Monday, January 24, 2022, asserted that the Rapid Response Squad led by its Commander CSP Yinka Egebeyemi arrested Seego and Kunle Poly (Kunle Lawal) as principal suspects in the unrest that resulted in the death of one person in Idumota, area of Lagos Island.

The fracas transpired on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

However, reacting to reports of his arrest today, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Seego who is the treasurer of the NURTW in Lagos state asserted

“My attention has been drawn to a piece of information in circulation to the effect that i was arrested yesterday by the Rapid Response Squad(RRS) In connection with the fracas that erupted at the Idumota area of lagos island and crippled commercial activities in the area.

For the records, I was only invited in for questioning at the Zone 2 police command Onikan.

As a stake holder on the Island, peace loving resident of the state and the State Treasurer of the NURTW, I expressed how i felt about the fracas to the police during interrogations and found Innocent of the accusations then left the Commannd around 10pm as the police continued their Investigations.

Am not in anyway a principal suspect as alleged or connected to any parties involved in the fracas, I have always maintained peace and harmony amongst the youth and residents of where i grew up on the island.

I stand by my words that anyone found culpable, and connected to the unrest caused by the fracas should be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.

I have been a law abiding citizen and have been contributing my quota to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst the youths in the state

Signed
ALHAJI MUSTAPHA ADEKUNLE (SEGO)
STATE TRAESURER NURTW LAGOS STATE COUNCIL.
