‘I Visit James Ibori In Prison Every Month, So Do Many Ministers, Govs & Ambassadors’ – Senator Ighoyota Amori

There is now a veritable confirmation of the powerful influence former governor serving prison time in jail, James Ibori has on the nation’s political.

Serving Senator from his state, Ighoyota Amori – Delta Central confirmed what has been for long a matter of various rumour, speculation and conjectures.

Disclosed Senator Amori in a chat with the online television arm of news platform saharareporters yesterday night – Saturday August 15 2015 –

” “Let me put this bluntly to you. I visit James Ibori once every month. But I am not the only one who visits James Ibori. There is an avalanche of people – ministers, governors, Nigerian ambassadors – visiting James Ibori in prison. That should tell you about the person of James Ibori.”

Senator Amori was responding to question on speculation regarding his visiting the in jail ex governor.

He went on to give deeper insight in the status of the convicted public official in the scheme of things insisting that despite his conviction the former state helms man serving prison term abroad remains an ‘Icon’.

Stated Senator Amori “If you are from Delta, you know James Ibori brought a lot of development to Delta State. That is a statement of fact… James Ibori is an icon. Let nobody deceive you.”

The Senator however refuted the tag ‘stooge’ of the jailed politician maintaining it is wrong to say he is one.

His words as captured by sahara t.v “I was the secretary of the political party that made [Ibori] governor. I became his Commissioner for Education and his political advisor. We became so close. His mother is from my village. It is very wrong to say I’m a stooge for him.”

He equally used the opportunity to attempt to clear air on recent pictures that surfaced of him partying abroad in the midst of a collage of briefly attired ladies in the name of a birthday celebration while the political leadership turbulence rocked the national assembly

“All the people in that picture were all people who attended a convention in Chicago… Most of the women there were all married with children… I am a married man. I am a Catholic. Highly religious and happily married with children.” he responded to question on the raging report without a clarification on whether a birthday party was staged or not.
