“I Pinch Myself Like Oh, Am Related To Him” – Daughter, Oge Speaks On Elumelu’s Strides At 60

Oge, the eldest child of master of commerce, Tony Elumelu has shared thoughts about the giant strides of her father on his 60th birthday.

“Every time I hear about the work he has done, particularly the foundation and the different entrepreneurs’ success stories I am always very inspired, I kind of pinch myself..Oh I am related to this person.” Oge stated at the 60th birthday Symposium held for the prominent champion of entrepreneurship in Africa.

The Symposium titled “60 For 60” had 60 beneficiaries of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) across Africa in attendance.  The event was held on his birth date – Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

From Nigeria, Cameroun, Gambia, Congo and other parts of the continent, the entrepreneurs shared inspiring success stories of how the foundation spearheading economic growth, poverty eradication, and job creation across all 54 African Countries has transformed them into fortune-makers.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation was founded by in 2010 and is credited with grooming about 16,000 entrepreneurs and creating a digital ecosystem of over one million Africans, as part of a ten-year US$100M commitment to fund, mentor and train young Africans.

Oge described her father, the man behind the major initiative as “an amazing man” on his 60th birthday.

His daughter’s insight confirms Elumelu who is a role model to many has achieved the most significant achievements of all parents – being the mirror of the world and a role model to the children.

The “Amazing man” who is the chairman of the pan-African financial services group which operates in 20 countries across Africa, the United Kingdom, France, the UAE and is the only African bank with a commercial deposit-taking presence in the United States of America is one the nation’s most decorated entrepreneurs.

The founder and Chairman of Heirs Oil & Gas, an upstream oil and gas company, whose assets include Nigerian oil block OML17, with a current production capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and 2P reserves of 1.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent, with an additional 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources of further exploration potential, Elumelu among other things sits on a number of public and social sector boards, including the World Economic Forum Community of Chairmen and the Global Leadership Council of UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited.
