‘I Am Here For My Case’ Keshi Disowns Absent Enyeama At NFF Probe Panel As Talks Of In Fighting Amongst Players Crippling Super Eagles Intensify
…team captain faces ban
Super Eagles coach, Stephen Coach refused to cover for national team captain, Vicent Enyeama at the venue of probe panel instituted by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The NFF had summoned Coach Keshi and Captain Enyeama to appear before it’s disciplinary on Tuesday June 23 2015 on different charges.
Keshi’s case centres around allegations of pursuing another job as Coach of Ivory Coast National football team while still employed to the NFF.
While Enyeama’s offence revolves around his public criticism of venue Kaduna venue of the
Stephen Keshi
Nation’s Cup qualifier the super eagles won against Chad national team.
Enyeama’s action ahead of the match which labelled Kaduna unsafe for him and his colleagues had reportedly peeved the state government funding the event.
The NFF leadership was forced to urgently issue a public rebuttal and engage in urgent private pleas to calm fray nerves over the development.
The NFF had issued a query to Enyeama to be answered in person on Tuesday June 23 over the development.
But while Coach Keshi appeared at the Abuja venue of the probe panel to honour the summon – captain Enyeama was nowhere to be found.
And Keshi refused to cover up for his team leader’s absence telling those who cared to ask ‘I am here for my case…i don’t know anything about Enyeama’.
Digs by societynowng over this retort unveiled raging allegations of in-fighting amongst players of the national team that has pitched the coach against his captain.
According to multiple sources the situation has become so bad that some of the players are not on speaking terms.
And the coach’s power to sanction is diminished because virtually all the players have strong individual backers amongst administrators of the nation’s football – NFF.
‘Actually, the Kaduna stadium was one of venues Keshi proposed and the NFF worked on the options before getting lucky with state government’s agreement to sponsor the match…for Enyeama as team captain to go public with criticisms of insecurity shows the kind of rapport he has with his coach and conflict ravaging the team’ an astute insider revealed.
Meanwhile for his refusal to honour summon to defend self, insiders divulged to societynowng.com that Enyeama faces ban from the national team.
‘it is about instilling discipline in the team…if Enyeama as team captain does not take charges and invitations by the Football Association seriously what kind of foundation is he laying for other players, especially the junior ones?…the football administrators are talking about making an example of him so that others will not tow the same path in future….and the most popular sanction at press time is a ban for certain period of time…they are still discussing how to go about it’ an insider divulged.
