That Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has initiated multiple moves that questions some of the policies and actions of the man he took over from, Emmanuel Uduaghan is no longer news.

Also that keen watchers traced this development to allegations former governor Uduaghan preferred another individual as his successor – and Okowa on a payback mission is equally not new.

What is new that as part of his continuing moves against his predecessor Governor Okowa is said to have suspended workers employed in the twilight of the administration of Mr Uduaghan for 3 months – without pay.

And the reason? He wants to use the period to mull over their fate, whether to retain or outrightly sack them.

This development is said to come against the background virtually all the workers are yet to receive salary since they resumed work.

Some are said to be owed as much as 3 Months salary.

One of the affected individuals seeking hep over this situation reportedly resigned from a job abroad and relocated back home specifically to take up the employment that has now transformed ‘questionable’.

The growing list of the victims of Okowa’s ongoing political fight with Uduaghan who is abroad is said to be creating a quiet agitation in the state.

The governor went on the wrong side of transporters when he initiated moves to recover buses given out as part of empowerment programmes by his predecessor.

Some of the affected transporters violently resist the move – forcing the Union to write the governor to call his agents to order.

‘He is growing unpopular with this continuing needless fight, sacking Uduaghan’s supporters and perceived loyalists at will irrespective of their professional competence….it is getting out offhand and people are getting tired of the whole thing’ an insider sum up the situation.
