How Willie Obiano’s Aide Tipped Off EFCC To Keep Close Eyes On Him

Emerging details have it that one of the aides of former Governor Willie Obiano unwittingly tipped off the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on how to keep him under close watch.

The 66year old immediate past Governor of Anambra State was arrested barely hours after he handed over to new helmsman Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Obiano, a former bank director, was arrested at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on his way out of the country.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered the EFCC which placed Obiano on its watchlist last year kept a tighter watch on the former Governor based on the public assertions of one of his aides.

Don Adinuba, the commissioner for information in Obiano chided EFCC for playing to the gallery with the move and trumpeted that his principal will relocate to the United States of America after his tenure.

Adinuba insisted that this was an open secret.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the conviction in Adinuba’s assertions which were repeated here and there made EFCC more invested in ensuring Obiano does not slip away.

“It sounded like it was a done deal and unstoppable and this tipped off those handling his case to be more alert” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The agency reportedly kept a closer watch on Obiano – who returned to the country from America after the commissioner’s widely reported response to EFCC – after this development.

A report monitored by SocietyNow.NG on thecable.ng revealed that the man who governed Anambra state between 2014 to 2022 tried to stop his arrest with a court order stopping the EFFCC from arresting but the move did not sail.

The peculiar dresser is currently in the custody of the EFCC where he spent his first night as former Governor.

The development crowns a day that saw his wife, Ebele received a resounding slap from Bianca – widow of the Ikemba Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu – for uncouth behavior swearing of Soludo as the new Governor of Anambra State.
