Former Governor Gbenga Daniel has picked the Ogun East Senatorial ticket. of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He emerged unopposed with the withdrawal of incumbent Lekan Mustapha from the contest.

The development puts to rest opposition to the former Governor’s senatorial ambition from Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Mustapha within the party.

Daniel’s emergence gives Abiodun’s loyalists bragging rights of bolstering the re-election chances of their principal at the polls.

The former Governor is the only politician in Ogun State with a political structure that rivals those of Abiodun’s main opponent with the APC (former Governor Ibikunle Amosun) and outside the party – Ladi Adebutu, the never say die serial gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Abiodun emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in a disputed primary election earlier in the week.
