The father of popular politician Ladi Adebutu clocked 88 years on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

A reception was held at the Ikoyi, Lagos home of the extremely wealthy Nigerian to celebrate his new age – but expectedly his son, Ladi was not in attendance.

The younger Adebutu who was the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the March 11, 2023, Ogun state gubernatorial election is on a self-imposed exile.

But did not let his father’s birthday go without celebrating it.

The gubernatorial candidate who is contesting the less than 15,000 votes difference that gave Governor Dapo Abiodun victory to claim a second term mandate sent an affectionate birthday message to his father.

“Happy 88th Birthday Dad!
Your love and wisdom have shaped me in countless ways, and I’m so grateful for all the wonderful moments we’ve shared together. Wishing you a day filled with joy and many more years of happiness.” the PDP chieftain posted on social media – outside of what private calls and related personal touches – to celebrate the man who means the world to him.

Ladi Adebutu’s absence at the birthday celebration of Sir Kess (as friends and close associates address the billionaire) is labeled a rarity by those who should know.

Findings revealed that the gubernatorial candidate traveled out of the country on a self-imposed exile in May 2023 over what he termed threats to life and political threats with roots in the outcome of the Ogun gubernatorial election.

The police later declared him a person of interest over the alleged role he played during the election.

Though he lost his case against the victory of Abiodun at the election tribunal, Adebutu has directed his lawyers to take up the case at a higher court.
