Those who should know say the claims that the central bank governor, Godwin Emefiele is taking urgent and surreptitious steps to relocate abroad by spending more time in the United Kingdom is “incorrect.”

“His family is based abroad and he has always gone to spend family time with them, it is not a new thing” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Insiders insist the CBN Governor’s wife Margaret and children have been residing in the U.K for a while.

“Tying the alleged plot by Emefiele to relocate abroad with spending time in the U.K in recent times is incorrect. He has always spent time there because his family is there.” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The arrangement of “putting family abroad and visiting”, is not peculiar to Emefiele, many top shots – in and out of government-have adopted the same style SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Emefiele, 61, on the last leg of his second term as the Governor of the Central Bank is doused with talks of planning to abandon office with a new government about to be sworn in.

The claims are rooted in his direct and indirect actions ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Aside from campaigns that propelled him as a contender for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, the policy to change the Naira which spiraled into the scarcity of the legal tender and untold hardship for the populace leading to violent riots, developments that earned him unfavorable appellations.

He has been the subject of different speculations since then, especially with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the man severally pointed as the target of his past actions about to be sworn in as the next President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.

Recent talk about Emefiele’s alleged plot to abandon office was soared by the alarm raised by the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle in an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari urging that approval given to the central bank governor to proceed on a study leave for the remainder of his term (10 months) in office be canceled to allow him to give a proper account of his tenure to the incoming president.
