High Stake Power Play Between EFCC Boss, Ibrahim Magu & President’s Chief Of Staff Abba Kyari Ruffles Feathers In Aso Rock, Corridors Of Power As Nduka Obaigbena, Other Embattled Souls Throw Weights Around!
…Influence bounce around like loose canon
Things are no longer at ease in the nation’s seat of power Aso Rock and the corridors of power at large.
And those in the know attributes this unravelling development to high state power play between Chairman of anti graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Ibrahim Magu and Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The duo are said to be at odds in passionate bid to serve the current administration.
And sources confirmed gainers in such chaos are festering the feud.
At stake is said to be how to handle emerging high profile cases in President Buhari’s zeal to fight corruption and recover looted funds.
Insiders confirmed while the President’s Chief of Staff wants political solutions in certain
instances to directly or indirectly shore up the support base of his principal’s administration, the EFCC boss is pushing for convictions.
”This is a protracted scenerio…a lot of things are being done on and off the scene to get things happen in the name of the major players..but you have to understand that contrary to what is being bandied by some, this is not about allegations of corruption against Abba (Kyari) or Ibrahim (Magu). It is actually about how they are trying to get their jobs done and refusing to comprise their stance” a source provided insight.
According to information available, the President’s Chief of Staff is keen to establish more political footing for his principal’s young administration and leans towards political approach to issues of corruption, while not against arrest and prosecution – he is said to be looking at cases where there would be more political mileage for the President and the country than conviction.
”And you can’t blame him, that is his job” a source pointed out.
But EFCC boss Magu acting on presidential directive of ”no sacred cow” in the fight against corruption is engaged in an all out approach.
Informants claim Magu is basing his agency’s success on the numbers of cases chalked up, arrests made, funds recovered and ultimately prosecutions handled.
Brush ins between the duo on cases of corruption being handled by the EFCC is said to have gradually diminished to a state of who has higher authority in the scheme of things.
And at present a raging pedestrian war of ”I am senior than you…I will get you sacked” is said to be on.
Sources disclosed major influencers in the corridors of powers are being co opted into the sizzling battle.
And, sides are being taken and switched based favours required from the main combatants by the fringe players societynowng.com learnt.
”Influences are being bounced around like a loose canon in the fight in Aso Rock and the corridors of power at large and this is causing great concern to followers of the event” a source disclosed.
Embattled individuals under investigations such as Nduka Obaigbena and the likes are said to have taken side against EFCC chair Ibrahim Magu according sources like online platform sahareporters.
And their own enemies lined up behind the EFCC Chair informants alleged.
Sympathisers and supporters of high profile individuals under investigation prowling the corridors of power are equally said to be working under ground to unseat Magu..
”And that is the problem, these people are festering the feud to their advantage..look at how passion to serve by two individuals loyal to the agenda of the administration as opened crack for what they are fighting to fight back at them” a source pointed out.
Societynowng.com learnt at present the situation is said to have degenerated to the level of total break down of trust between the duo.
Accusations of going beyond the borders of decorum in the battle is said to be flying around, along with mind numbing allegations of abuse of power against each other to achieve desired objectives.
Some however entertain hope the President’s continuous intervention would salvage what could be saved, in the broken down relationship but the most popular opinion is that one of the two is on the way out and that it is just a matter of time.
”And it certainly looks like the one with the public perception of stepping on a lot of big toes..even those clapping on his dare devil approach are not too comfortable with thoughts of what if the table was reversed” a source noted.
