Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has reacted to the demolition of his father’s political headquarter popularly called Ile Arugbo in Ilorin, Kwara state.

The demolition was carried out by the administration of governor Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman on the premise that it is located on government property and the land illegally acquired by Sataki’s father, Olusola Saraki (deceased).

Bukola Saraki inherited the building and his father’s political structure but has suffered a reversal of fortune since his political family was rooted out of power in a massive win by the opposition.

One of the downsides of the loss of power is the demolition of his father’s legacy by the new administration which says it has set about to correct the wrongs and illegality perpetrated by the Saraki family which wielded political power in Kwara state for as long as many can remember.

In a reaction to the demolition which took place on Thursday, January 2, Saraki told his supporters and sympathizers.

“Following the development this morning in Ile Arugbo, I want to commend the women and men, old and young, who displayed their affection, love and staunch support for my late father and the family. I appreciate the genuine support of the women and youths who stood firmly in the face of aggression and naked show of force.

“Your action throughout the night gave full expression to my belief that what Ile Arugbo represents to all of us is etched in our hearts. It goes beyond the physical structure. I am happy that you were not intimidated as you stood your ground. This day will go down as the day you reciprocated the love and affection my father and family have for you. You have displayed a gesture of goodwill and passionate love. We assure you that justice shall prevail in a not too distant future.

May God bless us all.
