Governor Babatunde Fashola, Commissioner Kayode Opeifa In Fierce Quarrel!

Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Raji Fashola and his commissioner for Transport, Mr Kayode Opeifa are estranged.

And sources claim the situation between them is not ordinary – but ‘fierce’

Their simmering discord is said to have root in the political battle that saw Fashola get party nod for re election- but all his supporters booted out.

Opeifa is described as on the winning side in that fight, he supported the definition of Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu with his all in all…and there lies his problem with Mr Fashola.

The governor is said to view Opeifa as ‘a major factor’ working against his interest. He is said not to hide his displeasure with the commissioner.

There are said to be two major pointers to the rapport that exists between the duo.

The first is said to be the operation of infamous agency among transporters ‘LASTMA’.

The traffic crime prevention and offenders apprehension organ that gave Opeifa fame as a Special Assistant between 2007 and 2011 is labelled ‘no longer under his jurisdiction, even as the commissioner for transport.’

This is view as a big blow to the Transport Commissioner’s portfolio.

Also added to this development, is what is tagged ‘drastic reduction in his budget’.

A source claimed the created pressure has put the Commissioner under ‘great strain to perform’.

Insiders revealed ‘ He appears constantly under pressure and this has certainly not helped with his opinion of the governor- and the latter’s of him too’

Watchers of events however revealed, Opeifa appears to be the worse off in the unfolding drama despite his ardent loyalty to source of political power, Asiwaju Tinubu.

A source claimed ‘ Like his combatant, he lacks a key ingredient that transforms an individual, particularly a politician into a darling- generosity…but unlike his already polarised adversary, the commissioner needs that factor to leverage on the favours of Asiwaju Tinubu to achieve greatness- particularly- within party circles’

The lack of generosity generated goodwill is said to be making the fight with Fashola assume a larger than life image in his dealings. Increasing numbers of people are said to be having ‘problems’ with him.

The situation is said to be becoming so apparent that ‘friends’ have started impressing it on him to ‘change’ in order for the growing conflicts not to come haunt him excessively, outside government.

He is said to be holding on in the escalating by putting faith in the known fact, Governor Fashola will soon be out of office. And he has strong chance of remaining.

Meanwhile the governor is said to be exploring counter measures of damaging Opeifa’s leverage force(s), his performances and image as much as before he leaves office.
