Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of 12 Kaduna citizens in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing the incident as a senseless act of savagery that must not go unpunished.

In a statement issued on June 21st, 2025, Governor Sani expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, revealing that the victims—innocent travellers en route to a wedding in Quan Pan Local Government—were ambushed and killed in the troubled Mangun District. Eleven others reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.

“We condemn in the strongest terms these acts of savagery,” the governor stated. “The criminals must be fished out and dealt with accordingly. There is no justification for anybody to attack any citizen of Nigeria in any part of the country. This madness must stop. Enough is enough.”

Governor Sani called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, urging them to leave no stone unturned in tracking down those responsible for the heinous act. He further charged the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, to take decisive action by personally leading the security response to ensure the killers are brought to justice.

“I will personally follow up on the progress made in the investigations and field operations. We must send a clear signal that impunity will no longer be tolerated,” he asserted.

The governor also appealed to Kaduna citizens to remain calm and avoid reprisals, reassuring them that the state government is fully committed to securing justice for the victims. He referenced the “Kaduna Peace Model” as proof that sustained political will and sincerity can transform conflict-ridden areas into peaceful communities.

“Our deepest condolences to the families of our citizens who lost their precious lives,” Governor Sani said. “We shall do all in our power to lessen their pains and ensure that the injured victims receive adequate medical attention.”

He concluded with a prayer for the repose of the souls of the departed and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to justice and peace.
