Olufunso, the wife of governor of Ogun state- Ibikunle Amosun has declared intention to climb the famous mount Kilimanjaro.
And her reasons? – to raise funds!

Here are the specific reasons as sourced by societynowng.com

In what would be termed an extraordinary expression of compassion, First Lady of Ogun State, HE (Mrs.) Olufunso Amosun is about to embark on a historic climb of the famous Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps in Nigeria.

In a unique social media video campaign, Mrs. Amosun informed everyone that she would be

embarking on the journey which has been planned as part of the 50th birthday celebration of her friend, Remi Abere.

According to her “I am climbing the Mountain on behalf of the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hajiya Aisha Buhari who is so passionate about women and children and all those who are in IDP Camps across our nation, she has demonstrated this in several ways and I am happy to climb on her behalf. I am also climbing to raise funds to alleviate poverty, the suffering and hardship that those in the IDP Camps are experiencing right now”

Mrs. Abere who had conquered the Kilimanjaro last year, said she was excited to return to the mountain but this time for a worthy cause.

According to her on November 29, she will be leaving the shores of Nigeria for the expedition tagged “Climb With Remi” to Kilimanjaro alongside five other women: Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Joke Olanipekun, Uzo Nwani, Debo Laditan and the Ogun State First Lady.

To her, there is no better awareness than having six middle-aged women climbing the mountain to bring the attention of the public to the plight of these women and children who were sent packing from their homes.
