The popularity and influence of Governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola just suffered another major blow.

One of his major backers, respected traditional ruler- Owa Obokun of Ijesha, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran has severed allegiance to the state head man.

Oba Aromolaran is the traditional ruler of Gov Aregbesola’s home town, Ilesha.

Insiders revealed Oba Aromolaran, a major campaigner for Gov Aregbesola pulled his support based on talks of ‘unfulfilment of electoral promises’

According to informants, the monarch with a lot of clout in Osun state threw his weight behind Aregbesola based on agreement that ‘certain political obligations’ will be executed.

The agreement are said to pertain to appointments, development of the monarch’s domain and empowerment of the indegenes.

Insiders claim ‘the traditional ruler found Aregbesola wanting in the keeping to the terms’

Divulged another ‘And he felt: what’s is the point in continuing to support what doesn’t benefit his people and his kingdom and pulled out of the relationship’

Aromolaran’s endorsement and support was one of the key fulcrums that leveraged Governor Aregbesola’s acceptance, respectability and ascension to office in the state.

With this development, the Osun state Governor is currently without the support of the two most powerful monarch’s in his domain.

Aside Oba Aromolaran who just withdrew his support and is yet to pledge allegiance to any other politician – the other power broker is hugely celebrated traditional rich in culture, Oonirisa of Ife, Oba Okunnade Sijuade, an avowed supporter of heavy weight politician with life long gubernatorial ambition, Otunba Iyiola Omisore.

Prior to this development Governor Aregbesola faced the relaunch of Omisore’s dwindling popularity as reported here (Omisore Begins Move To Kick Out Aregbesola From Osun State!)
