Glo Marks 22 Years, Pledges Greater Investment In Digital Future
expressed gratitude to millions of its customers across Nigeria and other markets
Globacom has expressed gratitude to millions of its customers across Nigeria and other markets for their loyalty over the past 22 years, describing them as the driving force behind its success.
In a message to commemorate its anniversary, the company also known as Glo said its journey since launching operations on August 29, 2003, has been defined by resilience, innovation, and customer trust. It noted that its decision to introduce per-second billing and reduce the cost of SIM acquisition at inception transformed access to mobile telephony in the country and gave millions of Nigerians their first opportunity to own a mobile line.

The company explained that it has since continued to shape the nation’s telecommunications landscape through network expansion, including the rollout of an extensive fibre optic infrastructure that connects cities, towns, and underserved communities. It added that the launch of its Glo 1 submarine cable provided international bandwidth capacity that accelerated Nigeria’s digital economy.
According to the company, its contributions have extended beyond telecommunications, with sustained investments in sports, education, entertainment, arts, and culture, helping to showcase Nigerian and African talent on the global stage.
Reaffirming its commitment to the future, the firm said it would continue to invest in next-generation technologies and expand data services to power innovation, fintech, e-commerce, entertainment, and other areas of the economy. “The future is bright, and together we will march into a new era of boundless possibilities,” it said.
