…As Soludo refused to part with a kobo

Saturday, September 1 2012- Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was in Lagos.

She was a guest at the Church wedding of Nneamaka- the daughter of Chika Okafor, money man behind the rising success of Chikason Group.

Nneamaka wedded her beau, Anthony Vanni at the Church of The Assumption, Falomo.

The Finance Minister in the company of former Central Bank Governor, Charles Soludo was one of the guests that stayed through out the ceremony that kicked off at 10.00a.m.

And she made the day of some area boys that were at the venue.

On her way out- the dimunitive economist was ‘ambushed’ by a handful of area boys posing as media characters.

They hailed and cajoled her to ‘drop’ something.

Okonjo at first claimed to be infuriated by the manner of the request- but after a couple of minutes of ‘venting her anger verbally’, she called for her bag from one of her aides and dolled out ‘a handful of dollars’ to the ‘boys’.

Witnesses claimed the beneficiary ‘erupted in shouts of joy’ as Okonjo walked off.

Unconfirmed sources claimed the gift in denominations of ‘hundred dollar’

The development is a clear departure from what the Minister of Finance and her economic crew preach- usage of the Naira as legal tender.

However, unlike Okonjo- Former C.B.N Governor, Charles Soludo rebuffed moves to elicit patronage from him, from the same set of people.

According to a source ‘he refused to part with a penny’

Sources confirmed he maintained stony facade outside the church premises till he left.

Both Soludo and Okonjo sat side by side at the church event

The reception later held at Civic Centre Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island- Lagos.
Other guests at both the church and reception arm of the nuptial were Former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, Ex Minister Prof (Mrs) Dora Akunyili, Minister of Investment- Olusegun Aganga, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Mr Francis Ogboro amongst others.
