Fight For Gov Fashola’s Successor Becomes Messier As Ganiyu Solomon Is Accused Of Smear Campaigns Causing Problems Within Party

Despite findings that party leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has endorsed out of public eye candidate, commissioner Gbolahan Lawal as the successor of outgoing governor, Babatunde Fashola- the scramble for the position by other interested candidates is far from over.

And these efforts said to be causing great ripples within the Action Congress of Nigeria have reportedly created great hiccups for the ambition of an influential aspirant- Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon.

The popular party man is accused of initiating smear campaigns that has thrown him at odds with party leaders.

According to a source ‘his antics just made him take on a powerful opponent in the person of Monarch, Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat- the traditional ruler and close ally of powerful Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’

Digs revealed the influential traditional ruler is positioning his son, Obafemi Hamzat, the commissioner for works to take over from Governor Fashola.

Senator Solomon is accused of taking sponsoring campaigns that attacks the person of the elder Hamzat in the bid to ridicule the chances of the son.

Sources claim the content of the sponsored campaigns focus on the fact that the aspirant is a commissioner of the past 13 years running, with an elder brother in the House of Representatives since 2007 and another that is late who was a Special Assistant…including a father that became a monarch on the strength of politics and enjoys the spoils of Asiwaju Tinubu’s confidence.

The poser of politicians and electorate being gullible to allow these happenstance is said to be creating a wave like effect creating stormy ripples within the party- creating a common ground for opponents of the Hamzats and their associates to work together.

The after effect is said to be growing disaffection with the elder Hamzat, what he represents and others like him within the Action Congress- including national leader, Asiwaju Tinubu within the party.

‘Senator Solomon’s action is believed to be the initiator of a spiralling out of control division within the party over Gov Fashola’s successor…the stuff about Hamzat is just one of the many allegations against him ‘

Insiders claim with the growing division traced to Solomon’s antics- a major blockade of his ambition within the party is being mounted.

Disclosed a source ‘ the line of thought is that, if he can achieve this manner of disruption of the norms without the influence of state machinery at his beck and call, what happens when he takes over power’

Added another informant ‘against the background of earlier shots at the same position that made Asiwaju Tinubu give up his Senatorial ambition to pacify Solomon, the party hierachy appear ready to stop the former Local Government boss at all cost with this latest development’
