Ex Gov Donald Duke Pays N350M, Gets Back Ikoyi Property Seized In Debt Dispute

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday discharged an order empowering the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to take over the property of former Governor of Cross River State, Mr Donald Duke over alleged N500million debt.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the order following the settlement terms filed and moved by the AMCON’s legal team led by Mrs Juliet Benson.

Benson told the court that Duke had fulfilled the terms of the settlement and both parties have agreed to the terms, and thereby urged the court to adopt the terms of settlement as the judgement of court.

Counsel to Donald Duke, Edoigiawerie uyi confirmed that his client had shown good faith by paying over N350million which parties agreed to.

“I join my colleagues to urge the court to enter our terms of settlement as the full and final judgement of court.

Justice Oweibo, in his short ruling, granted the terms of the settlement and entered it as full and final judgement.

The judge also said that all orders in the case stands discharged.

AMCON had on the 8th of August sealed off Ikoyi house Duke pursuant to the said order of Federal High Court in Lagos
