Emefiele’s Whereabouts Shrouded In “Secrecy”
“sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office”
The whereabouts of the suspended Govenor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele remain shrouded in secrecy- at press time.
The suspension of Emefiele as Central Bank Governor, with immediate, effect was announced by a statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on June 9, 2023.
“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy” the office of the SGF explained.
The development was followed by news of Emefiele’s arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) that spread like wild fire.
The DSS has, however, dispelled the news as untrue.
No other government agency has claimed the arrest of the suspended CBN Govenror.
Friends and associates of Emefiele have also refused to comment on his whereabouts.
