Drama As Talks Of Guber & Senatorial Ambitions Decorate Popular Politician Bimbo Ashiru
Charles Oyelesi
Bimbo Ashiru, the popular politician is at the center of conflicting talks.
One of the top men in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state is decorated with talks of having both a senatorial and gubernatorial ambition.
Ashiru, a former two-term commissioner in Ogun State was one of the leading aspirants for the 2019 gubernatorial election ticket of his party before fate pulled a fast and handed it to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Ashiru and Abiodun are from the same political zone, Ogun East.

Societynow.ng gathered that although he abided by the decision of the party and worked for the emergence of Abiodun as the governor of Ogun state, Ashiru retained interest he actualizing his gubernatorial ambition “some other time”.
Insiders disclosed that Ashiru’s name is one of those constantly thrown up as an alternative whenever talks that do not favor Abiodun’s second term come up.
Sources disclosed that Ashiru is making conscious efforts to remain in the good books of decision-makers.
Societynow.ng gathered that in the face of this positioning, talks have started linking Ashiru to another political ambition.
The former commissioner is said to have quietly shown interest in becoming the next senator from Ogun – East.
The position is currently occupied by Senator Lekan Mustapha who is also doused in talks of gubernatorial ambition.

The talks about town are that Ashiru is making the move as a back-up plan with Abiodun’s second term in office looking very plausible by day as the governor appears to be getting his politics right after a very shaky start.
Keen watchers of the unfolding development are however of the opinion that the conflicting talks about his political ambition may come back to haunt Ashiru, if he does not make where he stands known before the talks get a life of their own.
The next general election is scheduled for 2023 with aspirants already identified with their ambitions about two years ahead of the time.
