Drama As Lagos Speaker Obasa Denies 40 Duplexes Which Real Estate Agent Insists He Paid For

Emerging details have that there are 40 duplexes that no one is laying claim to in Lagos State.

Societyow.ng learned that the 40 duplexes are situated opposite Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu.

It is valued at about N500million.

Details available to societynow.ng have it that ongoing corruption investigation against Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa credit him with ownership of the properties.

But the Speaker is said to have denied this.

“Investigators spoke with people connected with the acquisition of the properties, including the agent that sealed the deal. They confirmed Obasa owned the property but the speaker has denied ownership” societynow.ng learned.

Insiders disclosed that Obasa insists that he is not the owner of the properties, even when he was confronted with proof of transfer of mega-funds to the agent, Akeem.

“He insisted that he does not have anything to do with the property while the agent claimed otherwise and provided investigators with telling evidence including payment notifications” societynow.ng learned.

Insiders disclosed the “effortless manner” Obasa denied the N500million investment was one of the major reasons the anti-corruption agency wanted to detain the speaker when he was invited for questioning but for huge pressure from different quarters and agreement by big players in government to stand as his guarantors.

The checks by societynw.ng revealed that Obasa became a person of interest for investigators when alarmed by the balance of the bank account attached to his visa application documents, one of the foreign embassies “notified” the EFCC based on “agreement” in the fight against corruption.

The EFCC reportedly started investigating the Lagos speaker and got bountiful help when a political fight broke out within his party – All Progressives Congress – and the agency received petitions against him which provided major leads in the investigation.

The ongoing investigation has resulted in the “freezing” of some of the bank accounts linked to the speaker as well as the questioning of his wife, children, and some of his associates and aides.
