Details: The Story Of Confidence, “Local Boy” Giving People Of Lagos & Ogun Sleepless Nights In Alakuko

At the heart of the talk of the town mayhem terrifying the people of Lagos and Ogun States in the suburb known as Alakuko is a less than thirty (30) year old “local boy” known as Confidence.

“Confidence was born in Akera (a popular street in Alakuko) and he shouldn’t be more than 28years old” societynow.ng learned.

Alakuko is a border area between Lagos and Ogun States in Ifo/ Alagbado axis with some of the houses built in such a way that parts of some of the houses fall into the two states.

The area has become a talking point due to a raging gang war.

Societynownow.ng gathered since Friday, February 5, 2020, it has been a daily clash between two major gangs – and at the centre of it all is the street figure known as Confidence.

Sources disclosed that fights which see about one hundred and fifty boys (150) on either side wielding all shades of dangerous weapons to fight, loot, maim and destroy at a pre-determined time started when Confidence claimed the people on the other side disrespected his “girlfriend” in Jankara area of Alakuko.

Insiders disclosed that the young man whose name is synonymous with street fights led an onslaught against the “Jankara boys” and wreaked havoc in their base as his boys beat and injured their targets and any other persons that caught their fancy while a splinter group attack shop owners and looted their wares.

Sources disclose that the Jankara Boys led by a street figure identified as Selebo rallied round, after the initial shock of the attack, and pushed back Confidence and band of followers to Dalemo his stronghold.

According to information pieced together by societynow.ng “The Jankara Boys were supported by Kesari Boys and the guys in control of Mao Junction and other groups tired of the overbearing attitude and excesses of Confidence and his followers”

“What is happening is actually a supremacy battle with all the other gangs sided against Confidence and his people. Confidence is a local boy born in Akera, he left the area for a couple of years and returned to become a terror in the neighborhoods in the fierce campaign to be recognized as the number one street figure, there had always been gangs in Alakuko with on and off skirmishes but it took his return to turn it into regular bloody affairs and one of the high points of his exploits is the attack on the Jankara Boys in the name of claim they disrespected his girlfriend on Friday ” societynow.ng learned.

Insiders disclosed that since the evening of Friday, February 5, 2020, the fighting which is largely restricted to Confidence’s stronghold in Dalemo junction has been fierce with lives lost on both sides, many innocent injured, shops looted and businesses ruined.

The information on the street is that the arrests made by the police on Monday and weapons seized are just windows into what is happening in that axis.

The architects of the violence rocking that place are still on the loose and plotting how to even scores with residents living in daily dread of this threat societynow.ng learned

“It is good that the police has waded in and made some arrests but the reality is that the arrowheads of the trouble including Confidence are still walking free and the tragic thing is that the perpetrators are very young people between 16years and 35years..the so called leaders of tomorrow ” societynow.ng learned.

Sources disclosed that things got this bad because security operatives who operate or are residents in the area are being careful because of possible reprisal attacks on their family members if they take too much a hard stance against the gang boys.

“What I would expect is that the police bring in men who are not known in the area to clear the boys, the mess or else things will on continue to worsen with the arrest of fringe players taken as major efforts in arresting the situation” societynow.ng learned.

Confidence, the young man at the centre of the gang war rocking the Lagos suburb is said dual nationality with one of his parents said to be from Cotonou.
