The Governor of Osun State Gboyega Oyetola has kick-started the campaign for his second term ambition.

This development comes barely 24hours after a peace meeting between the governor and his estranged predecessor Rauf Aregbesola.

The meeting was held at the Ila Orangun, Osun State residence of political leader Bisi Akande yesterday, December 3, 2020.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu midwifed the peace parley sources disclosed.

Societynow.ng learned that the differences that sparked off talks that Aregebesola is already propping up an alternative candidate to fight it out with Oyetola as the next governor of Osun State were put to bed.

Insiders disclosed that Tinubu took the step as part of efforts to ensure that the ruling All Progressives Congress remains one.

Tinubu is the political mentor of both Aregbesola and Oyetola.

The checks made by societynow.ng revealed that barely twenty- four hours after the meeting, Oyetola’s handlers through different platforms including the social media handle of his chief press secretary deployed news items trumping support for the governor’s second term ambition.

The news item is captioned “Osun monarchs drum support for Oyetola, endorse him for second term” and cites comments by popular traditional rulers Osun state the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama and the Olu of Ile-Ogbo, Oba Abeeb Agbajelola Adetoyese pledging support for the Oyetola’s second term in office.

The news which is being pushed out on different news platforms reads in part “Both monarchs expressed satisfaction with the leadership style of the Governor just as they declared their support for his re-election.

The duo also expressed their reelection bid advocacy for the Governor as part of efforts to reciprocate the good works and tremendous achievements that the governor had recorded in the last two years…”

Though the next gubernatorial election in Osun state comes up in 2022, it is believed that the step by Oyetola’s handlers is meant to counter reports far and wide that his second term in office is unsure, especially because of opposition from Minister for Interior Rauf Aregbesola.
