Former Governor Gboyega Oyetola is back in Osun state.

Oyetola left the state just before new Governor Ademola Adeleke took office in November 2022.

The former governor moved to Lagos but continues to challenge Oyetola’s victory in the July 16, 2022, Osun gubernatorial election at the election tribunal.

.
He returns to the state this week in a move unwittingly facilitated by Minister Rauf Aregbesola.

Oyetola is back in Osun state to provide leadership for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential campaign – and campaigns for other elective positions – for the 2023 election.

“This is as a result of the inability to effect a truce with Aregbesola who ought to take the lead as the most ranking and influential party chieftain in the state” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Aregbesola, a former two-term governor in Osun state, fell out with Oyetola over control of the party and how the state should be run. The chain reaction of their feud which transformed into open confrontations by supporters was the gubernatorial loss suffered by Oyetola to Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“The attempt to achieve a truce that will enable Oyetola and Aregbesola to work together and make the APC formidable in Osun for the 2023 election is proving difficult. Both parties find the proposed conditions unacceptable” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Oyetola’s return to Osun is to fill the leadership void in as the general election nears according to those in the know.

The former governor, limited to a single term in office with his gubernatorial loss, has hit the ground running with a “massive reception” that announced his arrival and the subsequent launch of the Presidential Campaign Council in the state capital, Osogbo.

“Though Aregbesola was not listed in the APC campaign council, there was a serious attempt to mend fences and get him onboard to play a lead role but it didn’t pan out and Oyetola has stepped into that shoe” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
