Details: Gov Akeredolu Says He Has Recovered From Covid-19 In The Face Of Agitation By Estranged Deputy Ajayi To Take Over Govt As Stipulated In Constitution

The Governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu says he has recovered from Covid-19.

This development comes in the face of passionate agitation by estranged Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi to take over the reins of the government of Ondo State.

Akeredolu last week – Tuesday, June 30 – announced that he has tested positive to Covid-19 and declared the intention to commence on Isolation in line with widespread protocol in combating the pandemic.

Ajayi, the estranged Deputy Governor who has defected to the rival People’s Democratic Party demanded the reins of government as stipulated in the constitution.

Akeredolu in a statement by the Commissioner for Information Ojogo rebuffed the move labeling Deputy Governor Agboola as the greatest threat to his administration.

The Deputy Governor, however, insisted on his ‘’right’’ to a takeover of the reins of government with the Governor ‘’incapacitated’’ with his battle with Covid-19 in Isolation.

The Deputy Governor reportedly planned a court action to force the move societynow.ng.

But Governor Akeredolu appears to be one step ahead of his Deputy with the declaration today, July 6, 2020, that ‘’ After a few days in isolation, my samples were taken and tested again in accordance with the treatment protocols of COVID-19, the results came in few minutes ago. I tested negative.’’

Societynow.ng checks revealed that Akeredolu spent just 6 days in Isolation against the stipulated 14 days before he ‘’conveniently’’ tested negative to Covid-19.

The Governor’s ”recovery” takes the wind out of the Deputy Governor’s fight for a takeover of the reins of the Ondo State Government.
