Details: Fayemi’s Effort To Make Alao Akala The Successor Of Ajimobi As Oyo APC Leader Collapses

The truce brokered in the Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by Governor Kayode Fayemi has collapsed.

Individuals and groups within the Oyo APC are at war over who becomes the successor of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi as the party leader.

The truce brokered by Governor Fayemi his Jericho, Ibadan (Oyo ) state residence was meant to affirm former Governor Adebayo Alao Akala as the successor of the late Ajimobi societynow.ng learned.

Fayemi’s held the meeting on the heels of an earlier meet by the National Caretaker and Reconciliation Committee peace meeting Abuja on September 2020.

Some of the leaders of the warring factions rejected Akala as the leader of the APC in
Oyo state at the meeting in Abuja initiated by the Reconciliation committee led by the Governor of Jigawa State Abubakar Badaru.

Fayemi’s truce meeting held last Sunday was to ‘’settled ruffled feathers’’ and achieved what the Badaru committee could not achieve.

Indications have emerged Fayemi’s effort has also gone the way of that of the National Caretaker and Reconciliation Committee.

Major players in the leadership tussle disowned the truce barely 48hours after the truce meeting by Fayemi.

Societynow.ng learned that prominent names in the Oyo APC such as Soji Akanbi, Olufemi Lanlehin, Ayade Adesu, and Alhaji Adebayo Shittu have publicly rejected the
truce and disowned Akala as leader of the party in their state.

They have made public declarations to this effect societynow.ng gathered.

Multiple sources confirmed that the architects of the collapse of Fayemi’s peace efforts attended the truce meeting on Sunday.
