Serial gubernatorial candidate Oladipupo Adebutu is gearing up for another attempt to become the next Governor of Ogun State.

The popular politician, famously known as Ladi or Lado, has taken intentional steps, including an early declaration of his ambition.

However, checks reveal that despite his efforts to improve the chances that almost secured him a win in the last governorship election—where he lost by less than fourteen votes to Governor Dapo Abiodun—he is now facing a major campaign from a united opposition.

The opposition against the face of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State is centered on his place of origin.

Adebutu, who has carved out his own identity beyond the shadow of his legendary father, billionaire Kensington Adebutu, hails from Iperu-Remo in the Ogun East Senatorial District.

Governor Abiodun, who will complete his second term in 2027 after eight years in office, also comes from Iperu-Remo in Ogun East.

Insiders disclosed that, based on an informal zoning arrangement, key decision-makers are already considering aspirants from other political divisions as the next Governor of Ogun State.

The agitation by stakeholders from either of the two other political sectors in the state—Ogun Central and Ogun West—to produce Governor Abiodun’s successor has been intense.

“That is the biggest movement against Lado’s gubernatorial ambition. He is facing a major battle,” sources revealed.

Those in the know suggest that Adebutu, who commands one of the four formidable political structures in Ogun State, appears to have devised a battle plan to counter this challenge
