Details As Ogun Gov Dapo Abiodun Places Embargo On All Local Council Accounts

New Governor Dapo Abiodun has placed an embargo on the bank accounts of all local councils in his state.

The order is said to take effect immediately.

Societynow.ng learned council administrators are also ordered not to make cash payments at the order goes into force.

The directive which notified concerned officers of this development was issued via short whatsapp.

Those concerned were mandated to pick up official letters “to the effect” by Friday, 31 May – before noon.

Societynow.ng learned the move by Governor Abiodun is part of efforts to understand the situation of the finances of the state.

The message which notified council officers of the embargo reads..

“I am directed by the Perm Sec to inform you that His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, d Gov of Ogun State, has placed an embargo on all d Bank Accounts of all Local Govts & LCDAs with effect from today, Thurs, 30th May, 2019. Equally, there shd be no cash payment.

D P.S emphasised that there shd be no attempt by any holga, Tr, DGSA to backdate any cheque cos bank statements of ur Accounts & payment vouchers will still be required.

Pls come to d LGSC tomorrow, Fri, 31st May, 2019, before noon to pick up d letter to this effect.”
