Details As Jubilating Demola Adeleke’s Supporters Flee In Osun State Capital, Osogbo

Jubilating supporters – and members of Peoples Democratic Party – celebrating Ademola Adeleke’s victory at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Friday, March 22, 2019, were said to have hurriedly abandoned their celebration and flee.

The party men were said to have trooped out in large numbers in Okefia area of Osogbo, the state capital immediately news got to them that Ademola Adeleke the PDP candidate in the disputed September 22, 2018, gubernatorial election has been declared the winner.

Okefia is located at the centre of Osogbo.

The Election Tribunal had its sitting in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Adeleke, a serving senator contested against the incumbent governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola.

An eyewitness told societynow.ng that celebration by the supporters of Adeleke and the members of PDP in Okefia was short-lived.

They were said to have suddenly taken to their heels.

Those in the know disclosed that the jubilating supporters actually mistook a motorcade of security personnel moving money for one the banks in the state capital to be security men sent out to disperse them.

They were said to have abandoned the victory celebration as they heard security vehicles’ siren moving towards their direction.

“The development forced them to run in different directions without waiting to confirm what they were running away from”, a source divulged.

The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal declared Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate in the state, Ademola Adeleke as winner.

The tribunal also held that the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, were not validly returned.
