Details: Ambode Silently – And Sneakily – Profiting From Lagos Speaker Obasa’s Unending Fraud Allegations?

 Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly is enmeshed in unending allegations of fraud.

The Speaker’s problem started when the State House of Assembly on Monday, March 9, 2020, removed two Principal Officers: Hon Olumuyiwa Jimoh, Apapa 2, Deputy Majority Leader; and Hon Rotimi Abiru, Somolu 2, Chief Whip while two other members: Hon Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun, Lagos Mainland 2; and Hon Kazeem Adewale Raheem, Ibeju Lekki 2 were suspended Indefinitely.

Though the matter was later resolved after the intervention by the ruling party, All Progressives Congress Party, leaders in Lagos state, the flood gate of financial allegations against Obasa remains open.

‘’More damning allegations with documents’’ has been thrown against him since the ‘’truce’’ with aggrieved members of the Lagos State House of Assembly members was done.

Societynow.ng learned that the ‘’supposedly aggrieved’’ lawmakers have been accused by party leaders of ‘’throwing up’’ the allegations but they denied the charge insisting their hands are clean in the matter.

 This development is said to have forced those trying to make peace to explore other options which resulted in the growing belief that there is a third party profiting from the ‘’ discord’’ in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Societynow.ng gathered that all eyes are now looking the way of immediate past Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

‘’Some of the points raised are that the allegations, especially the recent ones, are the ones that have a thing or two to with Ambode when he was Governor of the state and he had access to ’’ a source pointed out.

What is in it for Ambode?

Obasa as the Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly – back then – was one of the major players used to checkmate Ambode when he was the governor of Lagos State.

Obasa galvanized the lawmakers to pass the damning vote of no confidence on Ambode and actually worked hard to get the former governor impeached but for the last-minute consideration of a possible political fallout by his mentor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that halted the plan.

And Obasa was also at the forefront of the probe instituted against Ambode over the purchase of vehicles ( at allegedly massively inflated cost) and other allegations bordering on misappropriation of public funds and abuse of power but for legal action instituted by the former governor that stopped the process – for now.

‘’It is believed Ambode is quietly using a proxy fight to pay back Obasa in his own coin by getting him ( Obasa ) impeached or soiling his image and that of the house to the point of making any attempt to continue with the probe against him (Ambode) an exercise in futility’’ societynow.ng learned.

‘’That is the line of thoughts of the stakeholders trying to end the unraveling financial allegations against Obasa, that Ambode is quietly profiting from the situation’’ a source stated.

The checks made by societynow.ng revealed that former Governor Ambode continues to stay away from prying eyes while working hard behind the scene to worm his way into the hearts of those that can help him return to political relevance.
