Details: Ambode Gives Fresh “Headache” In Lagos APC

Former Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode is at the center of fresh speculations giving a lot of headaches in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hard hit are those who helped to cage in the the 60year old in 2019 when he sought another term in office against the wishes of the power that be.

After about four years of sidelining from main stream politics in Lagos state and beyond, Ambode is being touted as candidate for a vital position.

Many who claimed loyalty to party and political leaders to help thrash him find this very unsettling SocietyNow.Ng learned.

“The gist is that Tokunbo Abiru is tipped for key federal government appointment and Ambode touted as his replacement as Senator ” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Abiru, the former Managing Director who brought a lot of sanity to the accounts books of Polaris Bank is the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial district.

The Senator is one of the professionals in politics that enjoy the confidence of President Bola Tinubu.

“Should he make the list of the about to be announced federal appointments, the talks that Ambode is his likely successor are very thick with top level insiders in the Lagos power circle claiming knowledge” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Insiders insist that many who claim knowledge of the talks also admit to finding it discomforting, especially with President Tinubu’s name being strongly associated with the move.

“It is giving many people headaches, particular those who see themselves as more loyal and their sympathizers” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Ambode’s second term ambition was “sensationally” ended on the altar of claims of “bad performance” in 2019, to pave way for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to get his first term in office.

Sanwo-Olu who started his second term in office on May 29, 2023, however, cleared off the allegations of bad performance against Ambode with the recent declaration that the former Governor is “a seasoned administrator who contributed his knowledge and expertise to the growth of the public service in Lagos State.”

Sanwo-Olu made the declaration on June14, 2023, in celebration of Ambode’s 60th birthday.

The move by Sanwo-Olu climaxed in Ambode’s open re-union with President Bola Tinubu and the rest of his political family at reception held for the nation’s number citizen at the Lagos state government house in Marina on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

“I’m glad to see Ambode. Thank you Akin!”, the President reportedly told the former governor sent on political exile over this and that.
