Deep Personal Loss – Abiodun On Passing Of Okupe
Despite shifting political alliances
Governor Dapo Abiodun has described the passing of Dr. Doyin Okupe as a deep personal loss, coming shortly after the demise of the Alaperu of Iperu Remo, Oba Adeleke Idowu-Basibo.
He praised Dr. Okupe as a patriotic statesman, media strategist, and political figure who played key roles in Nigeria’s democracy, enduring persecution during military rule.
Abiodun declared that despite shifting political alliances, Okupe maintained strong relationships across party lines and remained committed to progressive ideals.
Dr. Okupe, a trained medical doctor, excelled in media and political communication, serving in various capacities, including Special Assistant to Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan.
His intellect, humility, and unwavering dedication to national development earned him widespread respect the Governor added.
And rounded off with assertion that, even in his later years, he remained a strong advocate for a better Nigeria. Governor Abiodun prayed for God’s comfort upon his family and affirmed that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. May his soul rest in peace.
