The managers at Dangote Refinery have reacted to the talk of the town fire incident at the $20billlion investment.
“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating normally, and there are no recorded injuries or bodily harm to any of our staff on duty.” Dangote Group spokesperson, Anthony Chiejena declared in reaction to viral video of fire incident.
Chiejena in the short statement addressing widespread public interest in the fire that reportedly started around midnight but put out in the afternoon of Wednesday, June 26, 2024 described the development as “a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP)”.
And insisted “We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident” as videos of the fire continue to trend across social media platform.
Unofficial sources attribue the fire incident at the newly launched 650 million barrels per day Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals in Lagos to “leakage” on one of the pipes.
Widely labelled as one of the world’s largest single-train refinery, the massive investment expected to have pivotal effect on the nation’s use and price of petrol has Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote as main promoter.
