Change Agents Taking Giant Strides Showcase On CNN African Voices

Cable News Network (CNN) will, this weekend on its magazine programme ,African Voices, profile change agents taking giant strides in Africa.
Globacom, which sponsors the broadcast of the programme, said in a press statement in Lagos that the edition, themed Change Makers, would feature the Founder of African Leadership Academy, Fred Swaniker, and the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Basketball League (ABL), Ugo Udezue, a Nigerian.
Both are among outstanding Africans who nurture dreams of a better world and better future. According to CNN, “These individuals are shaking up the status quo and simultaneously empowering their fellow countrymen”.
Udezue was born in Enugu State, Nigeria, 37 years ago. He is a former basketball international who once pitched tent with Wyoming in the United States. He recognises basketball as more than a game, and has a personal mission to build a sports empire from scratch.
He is billed to tell viewers about his goal “to provide a safe and socially conducive entertaining environment with basketball as the epicenter” as well as his hopes that the ABL which he co-founded will ”unite Africans through sports.”
His counterpart on the programme, Swaniker, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and leadership development expert has launched five organizations aimed at developing leaders primarily in Africa. He will be discussing his pet project, the African Leadership Academy, whose objective is to develop 6,000 transformative leaders for Africa over a 50-year period.
African Voices is beamed on CNN International at 10.30 a.m. on Fridays and repeated at 2.30 p.m. on Saturdays, 12.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. on Sundays. Repeat broadcasts will be viewed on Mondays at 11:30 p.m. and on Tuesdays at 5.30.
