…dissidents in opposition group reach out for “political understanding”

“Campaign For Jegede Like we want to wrestle power from them” is what Governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko has charged members of his People’s Democratic Party to canvass supporters and sympathisers to do during a recently held caucus meeting.

This directive comes in the face of raging turmoil afflicting main opposition party in the state, All Progressives Congress.

The APC’s troubles over emergence of Rotimi Akeredolu as party flag bearer has turned mega with National Leader and founding member Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu calling for removal of national chairman John Odigie- Oyegun.

Oyegun is accused of subverting the decision of the National Working Committee for a repeat of the shadow election that produced Akeredolu against the background of massive elections of malpractices.
Other aspirants Segun Abraham, Oluwole Oke and Ajayi Borrofice continue to kick against the circumstances that resulted in the submission of Akeredolu to electoral body INEC as party candidate.

Talks of plots to defect and speculations of moves to work against the interests of the APC in the upcoming gubernatorial election continue to trail the aggrieved aspirants and their supporters.

An inside source claimed ‘’some of them have started reaching out to governor Mimiko for a political understanding of sort’’

Societynowng.com learnt the political understanding revolves around clandestinely working for the governor’s party in exchange for a degree of patronage from the new government.

Insiders however claim despite these overtures and talks of possible defections of members from the APC into the PDP, the Governor has directed his party men not to rest on the oars of their campaign.

Sources disclosed to societynowg.com that at the recently held caucus meeting at the Ondo state government guest house, Mr Mimiko made it clear the APC should not be seen as divided but viewed as a formidable opponent willing and ready to do all it takes to wrestle power.

‘’he said the crisis should be viewed as a facade for the PDP to lower it’s guard in the state and so, all members of the party should campaign more than usual to ensure Jegede becomes the next governor of the state’’

Eyitayo Jgede, the immediate past Attorney General of Ondo state a preferred choice of Governor Segun Mimiko is the Gubernatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
