Billionaire Aliko Dangote has reacted to the story on trouble with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Buhari government is said to be trying to recover the monetary value of certain tax relief and economic concession granted Dangote in business areas he enjoyed pioneer status by past administrations societynow.ng reported.

The report stated there is a going on negotiation to secure a “mutually beneficial” arrangement with government by the billionaire.

The Chairman of Dangote group responded to the story in a heated conversation with societynow.ng via two of his spokespersons.

The conversation which took place in the evening of Monday, December 3, 2019 – via phone call – had Mr Adedamola Adeniyi, a member of Dangote’s media team labelled the story “blackmail”.

“The story is absolute falsehood and blackmail” Adedamola Adeniyi stated in the midst of offensive words.

He failed to back his allegation of blackmail with any claim or prove.

Cautioned on his choice of words and weight of his allegation, Adedamola Adeniy cut off the phone in the course of the engagement.

Societynow.ng’s representative returned his call to continue the conversation.

“He didn’t repeat the statement but gave the phone to someone he called his oga (Boss)” societynow.ng’s contact person narrated.

The “boss” who identified himself as Mr Awolola, continued the engagement and insisted the story not correct.

Awolola who insisted Dangote is getting accolades for business initiatives later echoed the “blackmail” claim.

Asked to back up his allegations and state when a demand for money – or any other thing – was ever made by societynow.ng, he chipped in “Blackmail is not just about money”.

Awolola was silent about “his definition of and what constitute blackmail nor in what context he made his allegation”.

The perceived senior media person at Dangote group launched into his pedigree and heaped abuse on societynow.ng when cautioned on the need for decorum in the interaction.

The billionaire’s media man ended the call after satisfying his vocal appetite when societynow.ng representative refused to cut off the phone on him.
