Bago Tells Why Niger State Plans To Have More State-Owned Universities

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has disclosed that Niger State would have more State-owned Universities across the State for sustainable development.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago disclosed this when the Chairman of Thinklab Group and his team were in Government House Minna, to announce their plan for educational empowerment and job creation.

The Farmer Governor said the measure is aimed at was to change the landscape of education in the state pointing out that priority in terms of admissions would be given to Nigerlites.

He described the Company’s efforts as unprecedented adding that they have shown commitment to youth development within six months of the State Government engaging them in the IBB Teaching Hospital and the Three-Arm-Zone projects.

Farmer Governor said the decision of the Company to establish a skills acquisition centre in Suleja is a welcome development and directed that the Group should work closely with the State Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Scale where the State for efficiency and effectiveness.

Earlier the Chairman of Thinklab Group, Dr. Sa’id Kori disclosed that the company has planned to provide scholarships in the 2024 JAMB, UTME, NECO and WAEC to 1,530 final-year students of Public Secondary across the State.

He explained that for equity, and fairness, the five best students from each of the 306 public Secondary Schools in the State would be selected to benefit from the scholarship, adding that out of the 1,530 students, 300 would further benefit from full tuition fee sponsorship in the State-owned Universities to study specific courses.

Dr. Kori also disclosed that plans are on to partner with the Niger State Government, to establish the Thinklab Center for Construction and Skills Acquisition in Suleja.

He said that the initiatives are part of their Corporate Social Responsibility pointing out that the Group intends to provide 10,000 scholarships to students across the country as it has already created over 30,000 jobs to young Nigerians over the last three years.

While commending the visionary leadership of the Farmer Governor, the Chairman Thinklab Group assured their commitment to excellence, innovation and sustainable development to align with the New Niger agenda of the Governor.
