Two Months after acting President Yemi Osinbajo asserted  “I’m fully in support of Magu as the EFCC Chairman just as the president is…” and also speaking on the Senate’s rejection of the EFCC boss also declared” “it is up to the Senate to make their judgement. If our candidate is rejected, …, we can represent our candidate.”

Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami says the acting president was merely expressing a personal opinion.

Distancing the Federal Executive Council from assertions made by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Ibrahim Magu’s continuous stay as front man at anti corruption agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – Malami told journalists today – Wednesday, July 5 2017″

“The fundamental consideration about the alleged statement is the fact that at no point ever did the Federal Executive Council sit down to arrive at the decision in one-way or the other as far as the issue of nomination or otherwise is concerned.

“So, I do not think it constitutes an issue for the Federal Executive Council to make any clarification about because it has never been considered by the FEC.”
