Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola attended the Pull-Out Parade of the Immediate Past Comptroller General of Immigration, CG Muhammad Babadende. At the event, he delivered a speech titled ‘A Fine Officer and Gentleman Never Retires’.

He congratulated him for the joy of today and for finishing well.

He was one of the few people that made my job as minister less challenging. He brought at my disposal his wealth of experience and his encyclopaedic mind on anything immigration. I cherish this and thank him immensely from the depth of my heart.

His tenure is perhaps the most remarkable in the annals of NIS as he brought many innovations to the service. The most remarkable one is the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) which enabled the NIS to coordinate movements of persons at the four airport borders and upload information on missing and stolen passports to INTERPOL. Nigeria sits proudly among the countries in the world that have attained this feat. This is one of the demands of the United States in our recent engagements over issues of mutual concern.
