Amosun’s Supporters Hit Town With Fresh Talks About His Plan

Loyalists of former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, are spreading fresh talks about their principal.

“He is perfecting a joker that would surprise all stakeholders in the 2025 Ogun State gubernatorial election” is the theme of their discussions.

The claims are becoming deeply entrenched in the state’s political circles, according to those in the know.

Amosun, a former senator representing Ogun Central, is the immediate past governor of Ogun State. He returned to the Senate after leaving office in 2019 but opted not to seek re-election, choosing instead to contest for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election.

However, he stepped down on the day of the primary election to support the emergence of President Bola Tinubu.

The move cemented his ties with the president and further boosted his standing as a power broker within the party at the national level and in Ogun State politics.

As the owner of one of the four powerful political structures in Ogun State, Amosun started gaining more attention amid claims of an “informal alliance” with another influential politician, Senator Gbenga Daniel, to determine the next governor of Ogun State.

Daniel, the senator representing Ogun East, is also a former two-term governor of the state and controls one of the four major political structures.

Checks revealed that this development is causing many to take more than a passing interest in the fresh claims by Amosun’s supporters.
