Amosun Steadfast In Maintaining Rapport With Buhari

Former Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun remains a steadfast personal friend of former Governor Muhammadu Buhari.
They were friends before Buhari became President of Nigeria in 2019.
Buhari’s presidency transformed Amosun, who was Governor of Ogun state in its first term and a Senator – representing Ogun Central – in the second term, into one of the most powerful politicians in Nigeria.
He was clearly the person with the biggest influence in the Presidency from the South West at the time.
But the rapport couldn’t help Amosun in his ambition to succeed Buhari as President or hold on to the political structure of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state.
The two “inabilities” have consigned Amosun to a lesser status in national and state political circles, but he remains steadfast in maintaining rapport with Buhari.
The former Governor was one of the early callers at the former President’s home in Daura, Katsina state to celebrate his birthday with him on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Buhari clocked 81 years old and Amosun was on hand to signpost the day with the former President.
He was not just on hand but took pictures to magnify the celebration in the public space.
“That’s Amosun, he is very passionate about what he believes and commits to. You can’t take that away from him” those who known him say.
