Amosun Cuts Off Communication From Supporters As Dapo Abiodun Becomes Next Gov Of Ogun State

Its been a gruelling campaign for Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun.

But the result is what it is.

Amosun, a Senator-Elect on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) failed in his bid to make Abiodun Akinlade, the gubernatorial candidate of rival Allied People’s Movement (APM) a successor.

And the outgoing governor of Ogun state cut off communication from his army of supporters once it became obvious things had gone south.

‘’Amosun switched off from everybody before the announcement was made’’ a source disclosed.

There is unconfirmed information the governor ‘’travelled’’ before INEC (Independent Electoral Commission) officially announced the winner.

APC’s flag bearer Dapo Abiodun won despite all the odds Amosun threw at him with the power of a sitting governor.

Abiodun polled 241.670 votes while Akinlade amassed 222,153.

Societynow.ng gathered that although Abiodun defeated Akinlade with a difference of 19,517 votes, the margin didn’t tell the true story of the intense battle.

‘’the fears, expectations, worries, apprehension was with little or no margin on both sides’’ a source disclosed.

Those who should know that for APM to emerge from nothing and transform into such a mighty threat to the ruling party – even in defeat – Amosun should be acknowledged a strong man in Ogun politics.

‘’But for the APC’s last-minute partnership with Gbenga Daniel faction of the PDP and the Titi Oseni and fellow ADC senatorial candidates Amosun would h turned the apple cart on Abiodun’s gubernatorial ambition in Ogun state’’ societynow.ng learned.

Multiple sources confirmed that Amosun stood with Akinlade right till the end – or at least till the reality was inevitable.

‘’He opened his lines to all and sundry and made himself available to all manners of supporters and he went to the streets to canvass for Akinlade. He really put his back into the campaign but the truth is that the people had taken a position against him and naturally his preferred gubernatorial candidate. But it is to the credit of his hard work that APM gave APC such a huge scare’’ a source analyzed.

‘’After such a gruelling effort, I think he deserves to take a break and I believe that he needs to cut off communication for a while to do that’’ another source observed.
