All The Reasons Aspirant K-RAD Is Labelled As Gov Aregbesola’s “Saviour” In Osun Guber Election

The Osun state Gubernatorial election is around the corner.

And outgoing governor, Rauf Aregbesola faces the battle of his career to install a successor.

Against greatly emboldened oppositions, his battle is two-pronged – he needs to keep his party, the All Progressives Congress, in Power and also ensures his prefered candidate gets the party gubernatorial ticket.

Checks revealed as different aspirants emerge within the APC individuals described as “discerning stakeholders” within the APC and sympathisers believe the “saviour” to bail out Governor Argebesola has been found.

He is identified as Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, the activist, lawyer and politician popularly called K-RAD.

Societynow learnt he is being touted as the man that can win the gubernatorial election for the APC in Osun state “hands down” and should be enabled to achieve this by becoming party candidate.

Here are the reasons being promoted why he is the candidate to “die for” as put together by one of his chief gospellers, Olu Akaraogun

1. He unites the party: Before he started his state-wide consultations in April 2017, his party was already divided along the fable Lagos or Ajele group and the Home-based group. So fierce was the acrimony between the two groups that the loss of the West Senatorial bye-election by the party to PDP was largely attributed to the in-fighting. However, the entrant of K-RAD has largely redirected the energy of the party chieftains and the faithful from the division to fundamental survival of the party in the next election.

K-RAD aptly named his socio-political group, TiwanTiwa L’Osun, to unite all party members under one leadership and progressive programmes. He often tells the people that TiwanTiwa L’Osun meant that the party needs the support of everyone to survive the impending political onslaught from PDP. K-RAD has friends and associates across the two divides of the party. He is loved and respected by the governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The same thing applies with the Deputy Speaker of House of Assembly, Honourable Lasun Yusuf, the man K-RAD fondly call Egbon Lasun.

The Deputy Speaker was one of the few people that K-RAD first intimated about his ambition to seek the ticket of the party for the gubernatorial poll. Such is his closeness to him. He remains the legal counsel to both the Governor and Deputy Speaker and majority of the party chieftains in the state. This amiable young lawyer relates very well with Secretary to the State Government of Osun (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola. Ditto with Alhaji Fatai Diekola, the man he fondly calls Jagun of Osogbo. K-RAD is very friendly with the party Chairman, Mr. Gboyega Famoodun. Today, if the party is searching for a candidate to unite everyone for the 2018 governorship poll, K-RAD is the only answer.

2. He is a party man to the core: I heard that no lawyer in Nigeria today can boast of having worked more for APC thank K-RAD. Records show that the radical lawyer has handled over 40 electoral petitions for the party. Several of these cases were in Osun State. He was privilege to be at the forefront of the electoral petition that reclaimed Ogbeni Aregbesola’s mandate. He worked for several lawmakers in the state among who is Honourable Lasun Yusuf. He led the election petition for the party in Adamawa, Kogi, Benue, Lagos and states. He understands the workings of, and the needs of the party. The chieftains of the party in the state are comfortable with him because they have accepted him as one of them.

3. He is untainted: K-RAD is clean. He is not tainted like most of the candidates that have shown interest in fighting for the party ticket. Opposition party will find it very difficult to throw any dirt at him if he wins the ticket. APC needs a candidate of K-RAD’s clean public records to fight the 2018 poll.

Even, PDP is desirous of presenting a clean candidate. It would be recalled that the immediate past National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo recently called on the leaders of the party in Osun state to reconcile members’ differences and ensure that the party present candidate without albatross to contest for the next year’s governorship election in the state.

According to this party chieftain, only a candidate that is “sellable” and devoid of albatross could defeat the ruling APC. Unarguably, the cleanest candidate in Osun today is K-RAD.

4. He has a blueprint for Osun state’s economy revival: I have been opportune to listen to most of the individuals that have shown interests in occupying the Abere Governor’s Office. I dare say only K-RAD has developed a blueprint on how to revive the economy of the state. While other candidates are promoting zoning sentiments such as West Lo’kan, Iwo Lo’kan, Ejigbo Lo’kan, Ikire Lo’kan, K-RAD, despite being a native of Osogbo, a town that has never produced the Governor of the state, has been selling his economic blueprint to the average party men and women in the state. He has vowed to print and circulate his economic revival programme once his party allows candidates to commence open campaign.

5. He is locally-bred and globally-exposed: For those desiring to have a locally bred politician to become the next Governor of the state, K-RAD is your man. He was born, bread, and peppered in Osogbo. He speaks undiluted Yoruba language. I doubt if anybody in his generation have a better mastery of the Yoruba culture. And for those who also desire to have a globally exposed person as the next governor, K-RAD is a man you can trust. K-RAD is as local as he is urbane. He is widely travelled. His global connections are great assets for the party. These attributes would bode well for the party in 2018 election.
