After Attending Daniel’s Campaign, Ogun Council Workers Warned Against Backing Politicians
Workers in Ogun state, particularly those in the local government have been warned against openly backing any politician.
They have been expressly forbidden from campaigning for politicians and appearing at campaign rallies SocietyNow.Ng learned.
This development comes after some local government workers in Ogun East were spotted campaigning for Senatorial Candidate, Gbenga Daniel.
“They were seen wearing the campaign attires and received an official query for their conduct” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Campaigning for politicians and political parties is against the civil service rule SocietyNow.Ng confirmed.
The official query issued to council workers who were part of the political campaign of former Governor Daniel is said to have become a “political controversy”.
Daniel is a chieftain of the ruling party in Ogun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) but is said to be at odds with Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Olubukola Olivia Onabanjo, the chairman of the Local Government Commission in Ogun State issued a strong warning to council workers to stay away from political campaigns or face the consequences.
Onabanjo issued the directive to Heads of Local Government Administrations to pass to other staffers at a meeting this week.
Senior workers in other sectors passed similar directives to other cadres of state workers SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
“They were told that what happened at Daniel’s campaign ground where workers fully participated should not happen again, irrespective of who the politician is. That it is against the civil service rule and will not be tolerated” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
