Abiodun’s Govt Targets 2,000km Of Roads Before Tenure Ends
before the end of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s tenure
The Ogun State Government has disclosed that over 1,600km of roads have been constructed since 2019, with a clear target of reaching 2,000km before the end of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s tenure.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, the Commissioner for Works, Ade Akinsanya, noted that road projects are ongoing across all 20 local government areas, addressing more than 4,000km of inherited bad roads through a deliberate statewide infrastructure strategy.
Major projects include the 70km Ota–Abeokuta Road, as well as rehabilitated routes in Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo, Akute, Alagbole and Ijoko, significantly improving connectivity between Ogun and Lagos communities.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, stressed that infrastructure is being democratised across the state, urging critics to assess progress holistically rather than in isolation.
Road infrastructure remains a central pillar of the administration’s development agenda.
