Insiders speak On Claims That Gov Abiodun Referred To Amosun In ‘’ The Devil Manned A Road Block On Our Way To victory last Year’’ 60TH Birthday Comment

The comment ‘’ the devil manned a road block on our way to victory last’’ in the self- congratulatory 60th birthday message posed by governor Dapo Abiodun yesterday – Friday, May 29, 2020 – is generating heated debates here and there.
This is against the background that immediate past governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, was a ferocious opposition to the gubernatorial ambition of Dapo Abiodun.
Despite being members of the same political party, All Progressives Congress, and long time friends and confidants – a bond sacrificed on the altar of the gubernatorial ambition – Amosun threw up all manners of stumbling blocks on Abiodun’s way to becoming the governor of Ogun state, including the infamous situation that got out of hand and resulted in the pelting of President Muhammadu Buhari and party leaders at state capital Abeokuta during the election campaign.

“Adding the fact that Amosun went as far as pulling structure into another party and sponsored a candidate on a rival party against Abiodun and the opposition remains as robust as ever after Abiodun became governor, It is easy for people, especially supporters of Amosun to read meaning into such a comment by the governor” societynow.ng learned.
But those close to Abiodun insist assumption that Abiodun referred to Amosun – with who is now a Senator representing Ogun Central and top-ranking member of the APC – with the comment is “not correct”.
It is out of character for Governor Abiodun to do such they insist.
Multiple sources insist the “the devil manned a road block on our way to victory last year’’ comment is one of the generalisation of attributing challenges faced by people of faith, especially Christians and Muslims to the ” handiwork” of the devil.

” D.A (Dapo Abiodun) has resolutely refused to engage Amosun in any form of gutter fight, his handlers only react to attacks when there are needs for clarification. I don’t think a man who has taken such careful consideration would now attract controversy to a major celebration as his 60th birthday with such a comment directed at the person he has refused to go dirty with” a source asserted.
The unedited self -congratulatory message posted by Governor Abiodun to celebrate his 60th birthday reads…
‘’My family and I give thanks to Almighty God for the divine grace to see this day.
‘’Today holds a special place in things I hold dear. To the glory of God, I am 60 years of age exactly one year after God, through the popular vote of the Ogun State people, made me the Executive Governor of the State.
The experiences that have come with six decades cannot be narrated now, but a few are common knowledge to family and friends. The devil manned a road block on our way to victory last year, but God insisted that the vision we have for the Gateway State would not die until it is actualised.
I am indeed grateful for and elated with all the kind messages I have received from everyone, and I pledge not to rest on my oars until I have done my best in the capacity you have elected me into.
I will be celebrating at home today with my family, keeping in mind the need to avoid a large gathering. This is in light of the mood and situation of the Nation. Let’s all also remember this and other measures in our different places of business, at home or anywhere else.
