Pelumi Olajengbesi, a lawyer and House of Representatives aspirant, has taken a swipe at Wole Oke, accusing the former PDP lawmaker of launching unwarranted attacks on Governor Ademola Adeleke and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State for selfish political reasons.

In a strongly worded post, Olajengbesi said Oke’s departure from the PDP and subsequent criticisms of Governor Adeleke were not driven by principle but by a desire to return to the National Assembly through automatic means—a demand the Governor refused to grant.

“Personally, I’ve decided to keep ignoring Wole Oke and his attacks on Governor Ademola Adeleke,” Olajengbesi stated, adding that the attacks were borne out of bitterness after Adeleke insisted that all aspirants must contest the party’s primaries. “The only reason Wole Oke left PDP and is now attacking Governor Adeleke is because the Governor refused to support injustice by giving him an automatic ticket.”

Oke

Oke, who has represented Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency for several terms since 2003, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has since become a vocal critic of the PDP-led government in Osun State. His criticisms have rattled the PDP base, especially in Ijesa North, where Olajengbesi is emerging as a formidable contender.

Olajengbesi recounted his past relationship with Oke, noting that he once worked for the former lawmaker in good faith.

According to him, things turned sour when he indicated interest in contesting the House of Representatives seat. “He literally moves from one house to another in Abuja, calling me defamatory names,” he said, adding that Oke had even run to opposition figures with false claims to damage his reputation.

“He has possibly mentioned my name to Oyetola more than 100 times,” Olajengbesi said. “Until even Oyetola got tired and said, ‘ma wo ri are e.’ Wole Oke is a joke. Me that I use grace like water.”

Olajengbesi also accused Oke of turning against respected community leaders, including Mayowa and Ogungbangbe, who, according to him, showed the former lawmaker goodwill. “That he could even issue a publication attacking people like Mayowa and Ogungbangbe is shameful,” he said.

Adeleke

With the 2027 elections in view, Olajengbesi said the people of Oriade and Obokun are ready to put an end to Oke’s dominance. “This is no longer about ambition. As we say in Yoruba, Otoge. Enough is Enough. The slavery of the people is too much,” he said. “The people of ORIADE OBOKUN have fed Wole Oke fat and he has come to fight them by insulting the leaders.”

He said the electorate would not be swayed by political theatrics or party switching, warning that Oke’s defection to the APC or any other party would not save him. “Whether Wole Oke runs from APC to AAA, the people of Ijesa North, young and old, will vote him out,” he declared. “Wole Oke cannot win House of Representatives elections by attacking leaders of ORIADE OBOKUN. No.”

In what appears to be the most direct confrontation yet in the brewing political battle for Ijesa North, Olajengbesi signaled a firm resolve to challenge what he described as years of imposed representation. “The Ijesa people are not stupid. They are decent. They will not make noise, but they will vote out any leader that is arrogant,” he said. “Otoge!” (enough is enough).
